Sea
 |
A
large seafood processing plant heralded the firm’s
diversification. Set up in 1968 at Kollam in the
picturesque backwaters of Kerala, Esmario Export
Enterprises processes seafood to exacting international
quality standards. Care is taken to ensure processing
is done in stringent hygienic conditions. The
plant incorporates facilities for water and effluent
treatment. Standby power and other requirements
are provided making it easy for the firm to meet
revised EEC norms and FDA regulations. The firm
won the Government of India’s prestigious
National Award for Outstanding Export Performance
for 1969-70. |

In
1974, the company acquired two deep-sea trawlers from
Mexico to strengthen its fishing fleet. In 1996 Esmario
launched into the domestic market, its brand of fish
and prawn pickles. It will soon launch its tongue smacking
delicacies for which there is a ready market in South
Asia, Middle East, and regions worldwide targeting the
sizable population from the Asian sub-continent and
others who appreciate Indian flavour.
